Degree Programs

The call to ministry can take many forms, and Union-PSCE offers several degree programs designed to equip persons for service as pastors, educators, and scholars, or for other ministries in the church and in the world. Union-PSCE currently welcomes applications to four degree programs: Master of Divinity (M.Div.), Master of Arts in Christian Education (M.A.C.E.), M.Div./M.A.C.E. dual degree program, and Master of Theology (Th.M). Admission to the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) has been suspended for 2009-10 while the program is reviewed by the faculty.

Union-PSCE offers rigorous curricula that integrate intensive study of the Bible and of Christian theological tradition, particularly its Reformed expressions, with classes and field learning experiences that enhance practical skills needed for effective ministry in an increasingly multicultural and religiously plural world.

Which degree is right for you? The answer may depend on the form of ministry to which you may feel that God is calling you. Graduates of Union-PSCE serve as pastors of Christian congregations, directors of Christian education, international mission workers, social workers, camp directors, and  professors of Bible, theology, or religious studies at colleges, universities, and seminaries.

For admission of new students in the 2009-10 academic year, the M.Div., M.A.C.E., M.Div./M.A.C.E. dual degree program, and Th.M. are available at the Richmond campus. The M.Div., M.A.C.E., and M.Div./M.A.C.E. degree programs are available to students in Charlotte. The M.A.C.E. degree is also available through the innovative Extended Campus Program, in which students complete much of their academic work from home and attend classes on campus for intensive 9-10 day sessions offered twice each year.
