The seminary remains a vibrant ecumenical community, with representatives from more than 20 Christian denominations in a typical year. Interested In:Presbyterian StudiesThe primary purpose of Union-PSCE is to provide theological education for those who will serve in ministry, especially in Presbyterian congregations. Education at Union-PSCE is informed by the life of these congregations. While open and welcoming to students from a blend of traditions and cultures, the Presbyterian and Reformed character of Union-PSCE undergirds studies in all disciplines at the seminary. Strong ties between the seminary and congregations enhances the practical experience of students in supervised ministry and field-based learning. Methodist StudiesAfter Presbyterians, United Methodists represent the next largest denominational group of students at Union-PSCE. The Richmond campus of Union-PSCE is fully accredited by the University Senate of the United Methodist Church for the instruction of United Methodist students who seek to be pastors. Courses in United Methodist history, doctrine, polity, and liturgical practice are offered for students who seek candidacy for full connection and elder’s orders according to the requirements of the United Methodist Division of Ordained Ministry |
