Library Policy Changes Announced
Concentrating services on library’s mission
During the summer, there will be a change in borrowing privileges for the collection in the William Smith Morton Library at Union-PSCE. New patrons from the general public who wish to begin using the library’s resources will be charged a membership fee beginning July 1, 2008. Member patrons enrolled before April 26, 2008 as public or extension patrons will continue to have free access to the library.
Students, faculty, alumni/ae and staff of Union-PSCE and Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond will continue to enjoy full library privileges. The new policy will allow library personnel to focus their services on the library’s primary mission to provide resources for the instruction and ministry of the students, faculty, alumni/ae and staff of both institutions.
The library is still pleased to offer the free online ATLAS resource for Union-PSCE Alumni/ae. They will continue to have access to the American Theological Library Association serials full-text periodicals database via the Internet. The link to the ATLAS database is: http://library.union-psce.edu/Pages/ATLASforAlumni.htm
By the end of the summer, access into the library will be restricted to students, faculty, alumni/ae and staff of Union-PSCE and BTSR and member patrons.
The library offers one of the nation’s finest collections for biblical studies, theology, Christian education, and church history. More than 337,000 volumes are in the collection, and the library receives 982 periodicals and scholarly journals.
