Cornel West Tickets Went Fast

Tickets for the Cornel West lecture at Union-PSCE were gone in a matter of minutes.
After becoming available to the public at 8:30 a.m. on April 1, all available seats in Watts Chapel had been claimed by 8:37. Tickets to the overflow seating, which will be in Lingle Hall and connected by a video feed, had all been claimed by 11 a.m.
West, a nationally known professor at Princeton University, will lecture at Union-PSCE on April 23 in Watts Chapel. Frequently cited as one of America's most gifted, provocative, and important public intellectuals, he is known for writing, speaking, and teaching that weaves together the American traditions of the Black Baptist Church, progressive politics, and jazz.
The lecture is at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2008.
With Dr. West's permission, the lecture will be recorded and made available through the William Smith Morton Library for library patrons. In addition, Union-PSCE is working with WCVE Public Radio to air the lecture in its entirety on their WCVE Forum radio program some weeks after the event.
Union-PSCE is co-sponsoring the event with partners at Virginia Commonwealth University, Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond, the School of Theology at Virginia Union University, the University of Richmond, Randolph-Macon College, J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College, and other institutions in the Richmond area.
