Indian Scholar to Lecture
Richmond, VA — March 18, 2008 — In the second in a series of annual lectures honoring professor emeritus Donald Dawe and his wife Nancy to promote interfaith dialogue and understanding, Dr. Nikky-Guninder Kaur Singh, professor of religious studies at Colby College in Maine, will deliver a public lecture on Thursday, March 27, at 7 p.m. in Watts Chapel at Union-PSCE.
Born in India, Singh holds degrees from Wellesley College, the University of Pennsylvania, and Temple University. Her topic is "The Role of Aesthetics in Inter-Religious Understanding."
Her research interests focus on poetics, feminist issues, and Sikhism. Singh's books include The Feminine Principle in the Sikh Vision of the Transcendent and The Name of My Beloved: Verses of the Sikh Gurus.
